Diabetes Education Center
Baptist Health Care provides diabetes patients and their families with the skills needed to manage the disease. Our diabetes Education Program has been recognized since 1988 by the American Diabetes Association in compliance with the national standards that judge the quality of diabetes education programs.
Our diabetes programs provide both education needed to help people with diabetes and their families manage and cope with the disease. Education can lead to improved blood glucose control, thereby reducing the risk of diabetic complications while improving the quality of life.
Our classes are beneficial for someone who has recently been diagnosed with diabetes or for someone who has had the disease for a long time and would like a refresher. We provide classes in group settings or individual sessions.
Education may include learning how to use a blood glucose monitor, give insulin injections, manage or improve dietary habits, manage sick days or how to use an insulin pump. Education can also be provided for those who are visually impaired.
The diabetes educators at Baptist Hospital are certified instructors through the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators.
