Mammography
Our physicians, nurses and health care professionals realize that women’s
health including breast health is an increasingly important focus in women’s
lives.
Because breast cancer is the most common non-skin cancer
in women and the second leading cause of cancer death in women in the
United States. Every woman is at risk, and this risk increases with
age. Breast cancer can usually be successfully treated when found early.
Early detection can help beat breast cancer, and nothing
beats that. The mammography is a powerful tool in finding breast cancer
before symptoms occur, and that’s why women in their 40’s and
older are encouraged to have an annual mammogram with clinical breast examination.
At Baptist Women’s Services, our radiologists have always double-read your mammogram result but without new, computer-aided detection system, our radiologist can now triple-check to ensure accuracy in the early diagnosis of breast disease.

Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
We are the only ACR accredited facility in Pensacola for stereotactic
breast biopsy. This procedure is an alternative to surgery and being
put to sleep. A stereotactic breast biopsy is a test that uses a special
computer to guide a needle to an abnormality seen on mammography. A
large percentage of these abnormalities are benign and present no health
risks. This biopsy is a non-invasive, accurate way to obtain the tissue
sample required for diagnosis. The patient returns the following day
and gets the results of their biopsy. Many patients are finding this
a great alternative to having a surgical biopsy.
