A bariatric nurse
practitioner - a registered nurse with advanced training
and certification - works with your surgeon to provide you with comprehensive
follow-up care, monitoring your physical condition and psychological adjustment
during the first five years following your surgery.
The bariatric nurse liaison follows each patient through the entire
process, from pre-operative counseling to post-operative support, counseling
and follow-up. As your personal nurse, this liaison plays an essential role in
ensuring your successful recovery and adjustment.
A registered and licensed dietitian -
specializing in the nutritional needs of bariatric partients - will meet with
you and provide a nutritional evaluation.
Licensed psychologists -
specializing in weight-related issues - will meet with you to ensure that
bariatric surgery is right for you.
Exercise specialists - provide a
medically supervised exercise program especially for bariatric patients with
equipment designed for the morbidly obese.
