Café PERC (Peer Education Resource Community)

The spiritual aspect of our lives is important to living healthy. It plays a critical role in healing and coping with a complicated world. Lakeview Center provides a spiritual care center named Café PERC to help you. All faiths are welcome and supported.
The acronym stands for Peer Education Resource Community. It is a peer-support service organization (PSSO) where consumers of behavioral health services share information, socialization and recreational activities with their peers. The café serves as a safe place where guests interact with one another in a comfortable, low-stress environment without fear of stigma or judgment.
Unlike a traditional treatment program, Café PERC operates as a drop-in center where guests come and go as they please and choose the activities in which they want to participate. Whether it's joining a support/advocacy group or attending a series of wellness seminars held by their peers, it's up to consumers to decide their own level of involvement.
The support services offered at Café PERC are provided by consumers themselves, either as paid staff or as volunteers. Both consumers and non-consumers share the administration duties, and our Lakeview Center chaplain supervises the staff responsible for daily operations.

A variety of services and activities are available at Café PERC, including:
- Recreational arts and crafts
- A peer-run snack shop
- Free WIFI
- Computers with Internet access
- Social/recreational games
- Recreational music making
- A lending library
- Peer-facilitated wellness seminars and support groups
Our History
Café PERC was launched in July 2012 when Access Behavioral Health (ABH) opened “a welcome center” on the main campus at Lakeview Center. After a year, recognizing the value of a drop-in center, Lakeview's Behavioral Health Division assumed responsibility for Café PERC.
Visit the café located next door to the Lakeview Center Spiritual Care Center at the corner of Hernandez and H streets.
