The Friary of Lakeview Center: Our Program
|
The Friary is committed to the delivery of high-quality
health care services to the patient and their families. Four
distinct levels of care are available to our patients and placement
is determined by medical necessity, personal factors and insurance
coverage. These levels are Detoxification, Rehabilitation, Day
treatment (Partial Hospitalization) and Intensive Outpatient.
In addition, we offer services to family members and a continuing
care program for both patients and their families.
Drug and alcohol problems are the focus of all
levels of treatment and each patient must have a diagnosis of
substance abuse or dependence. Within the scope of the program,
other issues are also addressed. These include, but are not limited
to, mental health disorders, trauma issues, chronic pain and
other addictions. We also treat many medical professionals and
are approved in Florida and Alabama’s impaired professionals
programs.
DETOXIFICATION
This is the medical process as assisting the person to get safely off their
drugs and/or alcohol. Our Medical Director oversees all aspects of detox.
R.N.’s closely monitor patient’s vital signs and symptoms of
withdrawal to make this a safe and effective process. This
is an in-patient program and patients participate in group and individual
therapy.
REHABILITATION
This in-patient program assists patients by getting them out of their using
environments and breaking the cycle of addiction. In addition to group
and individual therapy, they are exposed to 12 step meetings (AA, NA, CA)
and educational groups. The focus is to build sobriety skills and develop
new coping behaviors.
DAY TREATMENT (Partial
Hospitalization)
After a patient is medically and emotionally stable, they sometimes are able
to spend their nights at home. This gives them an opportunity to “test
the waters” while still having the safety of a treatment program during
the day. Patients are expected to attend daily 12 step meetings and begin to
practice the skills they developed while in Rehab.
INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM (IOP)
Patients attend IOP three half-days a week. This level of care can be used
as the initial phase of treatment for some or for a final phase for others
who have completed the in-patient levels of care. People who have stable
living environments and do not require detox may be candidates for IOP.
This allows them to participate in many activities of their daily life
while still involved in intensive, supportive therapy. For those completing
an in-patient program, it can serve to reinforce their sobriety skills.
It provides on-going therapy and support while people transition to real
life situations.
FAMILY PROGRAM
In order to address the needs of family members, a weekly educational and therapeutic
program is offered. Lectures, didactic groups and process groups provide
information and education regarding addiction and the recovery process.
It also provides an opportunity for families to begin to talk about their
situations and its affect on them. Family therapy sessions are also made
available.
A Family Continuing Care group is offered on a weekly basis.
This is open to all family members and is available both
while your loved one is in treatment
and thereafter. It is led by a therapist and provides additional opportunities
for personal growth and problem solving. An Alanon meeting is held directly
following the Continuing Care group and provides an opportunity for exposure
to this self-help group. |

WELLNESS
AND LEISURE
Addiction becomes the center of an addicts/alcoholic’s life. Hobbies, interests
and leisure skills fall by the wayside, as addiction takes over. Often, we hear
fears that patients do not think they can have fun without using a chemical.
A part of their journey is to begin to find fun in recovery. We provide many
opportunities for this to begin. Aerobics and exercise classes help them rediscover
their flexibility and endurance. Nutrition classes provide information on healthy
food plans. Art and music show them their creative sides. Off campus excursions
remind them that bowling or going to a museum can be fun. Family visitation also
provides opportunities to rediscover playing with their children, walking and
talking with family and making plans for activities upon returning home.
CONTINUING
CARE
Once you have been a patient at The Friary, we consider you part of The Friary
family. We want you to succeed in your recovery program and provide on-going
support groups for you. Weekly groups are available in Pensacola, Ft. Walton
and at The Friary. These are available to you for as long as you want to attend,
at no charge. We encourage those alumni who live in our area to attend one
or more of these groups. We also offer a Continuing Care group for family members
at The Friary. |
